Return To ShopJust like natural grass, areas of artificial grass that experience heavy foot traffic can become flattened or depressed over time. To maintain the appearance and texture, regularly brushing the fibres with a stiff brush will help lift them and restore their upright position. If certain areas are used frequently, it’s particularly important to brush them regularly to prevent the yarn from becoming permanently flattened or split.
While imprints from garden furniture or foot traffic will naturally lift over time, a gentle brushing of the fibres can speed up the process. Additionally, using washed, dried silica sand or ZeoFill as an infill can help keep the grass fibres standing tall and preserve their bounce and stability.
Proper installation typically includes a stabilising infill of silica sand or ZeoFill to maintain the fibres’ shape and structure. Failure to maintain the infill and brush the lawn can lead to issues such as matting and, in some cases, may require the complete replacement of the artificial grass surface.
Regular maintenance of artificial grass is essential to prevent the build-up of debris, moss, and weeds. It is recommended to install a protective membrane or weed barrier (unless it’s a K9 use area) before laying the grass. However, some weeds may still appear over time due to bird droppings or airborne weed seeds. If the area used by your furry friends then get professional advice from K9 Grass team as this may cause some odour developing issues.
To minimize weed growth, regularly remove fallen leaves and debris using a stiff brush, leaf blower, or plastic rake. While these tools help manage debris, you may still need to apply a suitable weed killer to control weed spread. Avoid using metal rakes, as they can damage the turf fibers.
If airborne spores or seeds accumulate on the grass or edging, do not pluck them out, as this can damage the drain holes and lead to increased weed growth. Instead, apply a gentle weed killer to prevent regrowth. Once the weeds have dried and been killed, use scissors to carefully cut them off at the base. Additionally, trim overhanging branches or bushes to reduce excessive leaf drop onto the artificial grass.
leaf drop onto the artificial grass. This routine will help maintain the appearance and functionality of your artificial lawn over time.
Artificial grass typically self-cleans when it rains. However, during extended dry periods, it’s a good idea to occasionally hose down the area to remove dust and dirt. The yarns used in Premier Grass are designed to resist staining, but if a mark does appear, try cleaning it with warm water first. To minimise the spread of bacteria, you can use our P-Terminator Disinfectant. For spills like milk, tomato sauce, alcohol, butter, ice cream, fruit juice, mustard, or blood, gentle detergents (such as washing-up liquid) and artificial grass cleaners are recommended. For oil-based stains, such as suntan lotion, cooking oil, grease, nail polish, ink, or shoe polish, use diluted mineral spirits sparingly. Avoid using bleach on the grass, as it can damage the fibers.
K9 Grass is a specialised product exclusively offered by Premier Grass, designed specifically for dog areas. Using our unique ZeoFill infill, which significantly reduces odors compared to other products on the market. Australian ZeoFill is the oldest ZeoFill found so far and it’s approximately 300 million years old volcano ash from NSW. We recommend checking the infill levels quarterly (depending on the usage of the area) and topping it up with ZeoFill as needed. The non-woven cloth with latex backing typically absorbs water or urine, which can sometimes lead to odor issues. To minimize this, our K9 Grass uses ERET backing or drain pro grass backing technologies, which helps reduce such problems. ZeoFill acts as a magnet for ammonia, helping to control odors on the artificial grass. For maintenance, you can also use our P-Terminator Enzyme Spray when necessary. The grass can be washed once a week, or you can rely on rain to naturally keep it clean if ZeoFill is applied.
Selecting the right type of artificial grass is essential for your needs. For example, shorter yarns, compacted yarns, or those made with Heat Block 28 nylon (minimise the UV magnifying grass melting issues) may be better suited to your requirements, offering enhanced durability without hassle.
To protect your artificial lawn:
Avoid direct heat: Keep barbecues or smoking areas away from the grass to prevent hot embers from falling onto the surface. Direct flames can cause irreversible damage.
Use protective coverings: If painting near the grass, always place a protective sheet over the area to prevent splashes and spills.
Perform repairs professionally: In case of damage, patch repairs should be carried out by a professional landscaper to ensure seamless restoration.
Move heavy objects: To avoid crushing or damaging the yarn, regularly move heavy items like tables, chairs, large pots, or lounges.
Prevent stains: Glue, chewing gum, and other sticky substances can damage the fibers and be difficult to remove. Always clean spills promptly.
Stay cautious with glass: Broken glass can cut the fibers or create safety hazards. Always clean up glass shards immediately to maintain both the look and safety of your lawn.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your artificial grass remains in great condition for years to come.
This is not recommended as the existing lawn can have uneven places or different weed that can appear on the synthetic grass in Brisbane through the drainage holes after a while. We recommend it to install in the professional way by using crush rock as an under layer. Please see are how to install page for more information.
The advantages include saving money and time, especially on lawn maintenance, and it can also improve lifestyle and help with environmental issues.
Low maintenance – generating savings on time and up-keep costs. This applies to homeowners, the elderly for whom maintenance is not practical, second/holiday home owners and also organisations such as local councils who have to maintain roadside verges, city parks and pathways
No watering – ideal where water is scarce or in hosepipe/sprinkler ban areas.

To reduce the amount of leaf litter and debris that falls on your artificial grass, cut back hedges and over-hanging trees
Don’t keep or use sources of heat on the artificial grass (or too near to it). Smoking, bonfires and fireworks are all no-goes and barbecues are best done on safe, solid surfaces like gravel or slabs
Avoid keeping any glass objects on or near the artificial grass in Sydney. Glass or any other objective producing a shine- can magnify the grass if the sun is in direct exposure; risking damaging the grass
